Tisha Phillips, APRN

Nurse Practioner

Tisha’s love of medicine and helping people started with taking a First Aid course as a Girl Scout. She originally had planned to be a physical therapist but ended up completing her B.S.N. at August University after completing a Psychology degree at Emory University. Her nursing career started at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital where she worked on the GI/respiratory floor. She then worked from the United Kingdom (U.K). to help set up a mobile medical clinic to be based in West Africa, afterwards returning to the States continuing to work in pediatric nursing in both Virginia and South Carolina, including time in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She also qualified as a CPR instructor during this time. From South Carolina, she moved back overseas to work as a school nurse at an International School in Turkey. She also taught psychology and sociology, which she really enjoyed. From Turkey, Tisha and her husband, Tom, plus four children moved to the U.K. During the time in the U.K., she kept up her nursing license and continuing education credits, and decided it was time to pursue a Nurse Practitioner Master’s degree. Most of the family returned to the States in 2021 (yes, made an international move during a pandemic!). She started her Master’s in 2021 and completed it in August 2024, while also working full-time on an adult medical-surgical floor.  Many of you will remember her as a student. She is looking forward to serving you now as a Board-Certified family nurse practitioner.

When she is not working, she enjoys being outdoors, walking or swimming. She also enjoys reading, trying new recipes and snuggling with her two cats – if they happen to be willing!
